( 13 ) South Parlour: A gentleman's wing backed chair, with short turned legs is placed next to the fireplace. It has been recovered in a reproduction material of a pattern popular in the 1820's and 1830's. The deep, high wings were intended to shield the sitter from the cold air circulating around the room. When faced towards a roaring fire these chairs provide a comfortable and cozy seat.
